![]() ![]() How to erase and install Snow Leopard 10.6Įrasing and installing will wipe off everything, but it fixes issues and gives a faster machine, you won't have your iLife suite (iPhoto etc) but the files are in your Pictures folder which if you use AppStore (use Software Update to get to 10.6.8 and it will appear under the Apple menu) you buy and reinstall iLife programs for a fee (you lost your 10.5 disk that had the free copies of iLife) However it might not work and you will have to erase and install which is why you will need your users files first on a disconnected external drive. Once your files are off the machine (Pictures, Documents, Movies etc), then you can upgrade 10.6 over 10.5 merly by sticking the disk into the machine and running the upgrade installer If your Mac is a Intel processor Mac, then simply call Apple for 10.6 white Snow Leopard upgrade disks, then since you don't have a backup of your data off the machine, you need to do this first.Ĭreate a data recovery/undelete external boot drive If your iMac is a PPC G5 iMac (not a Intel processor Mac) then you will have to search online or on eBay etc for copies of the 10.5 install disks and they will want a lot of money. 10.5 is obsolete and Apple doesn't carry those disks anymore or issues software updates for it. ![]()
